How the Marble Calculator Works
This marble calculator computes total area (length × width in square feet), then divides by the area of a single slab or tile converted from inches to feet. A waste factor — typically 10% for straight cuts, 15–20% for diagonal or herringbone patterns — is applied and the result rounded up to whole slabs. Dividing by lot size gives the number of bundles to order. Estimated weight uses a typical marble density of ~18 lbs per square foot (8.16 kg/sq ft), useful for checking structural load limits. Always order at least one extra slab from the same batch to ensure colour and veining consistency.
Marble Waste Factor Guide
Straight-lay floor or wall: add 10%. Diagonal or 45° offset pattern: add 15%. Herringbone or chevron: add 20%. Complex countertops with cutouts: add 20–25%. For natural stone, always match dye lots — buying extra upfront is far cheaper than ordering from a new quarry run that won't match.
